I've never really bought into the whole BB cream hype, I like full coverage and a seemingly semi-matte finish that still leaves me looking a bit glowy!. I did try the Garnier BB Cream and ended up just using it as a base for the rest of my make up to go over as I didn't seem to think it did what it claimed all too much, then 17 bought out their offering. It sounded better, a lot of people were raving about it and apparently this seemed to have a bit more coverage than most... I was sold!
Before and After
I bought this in the shade medium which seems to suit me perfectly and I would liken it to Liz Earle's Sheer Skin Tint but for a girl on a budget!.
It glides onto the skin easily and covers my redness well, leaving me with what seems an overall even base. It also has quite good coverage concealing any light blemishes (as you can see on my moles in the picture above, it definitely covers them a fair bit) It also leaves my skin looking completely flawless with no signs of my pesky pores.
I do however have to use a bit of concealer if I have any problem areas like dark circles under my eyes (none has been used in the picture above) or any inflamed blemishes but I am quite lucky as I very rarely suffer from them. I also have to powder it down to achieve the desired effect I like because it does leave you looking rather dewy and for me that is a no go area, the lasting ability is around 5-6 hours which isn't amazing but seeing as I only wear it on my 'No Make Up' days that suits me just fine.
Overall I am impressed with 17's offering and think its a good little budget beauty buy, especially due to the fact 17 is on a 3 for 2 offer at Boots at the moment.
Have you tried 17's BB cream? What BB creams do you recommend?

Haha :D You know I have; http://eightforawish.com/2012/03/10/17-blemish-balm-and-hide-chic-eye-brightening-concealer/
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoy it too, it's great for "I can't be arsed,"-days (which for me is.. Er.. Every day!) I usually dust it with a finishing powder I have from Urban Decay to combat the dewiness (I have greasy skin, so dewy is a no-go for me.)

Haha! Yes I know you have :P Love it for them days, absolutely perfect :) xx
DeleteI'm always interested in reading more about BB creams. I don't really understand the difference between them and tinted moisturizers personally. I'd maybe consider it in the summer when my skin was better and tanned and looking healthy but I always think if you're gonna spent 6-10 quid, might as well get a drugstore foundation!
ReplyDeleteDoes sound like it'd be good for the summer though, bit dewier and lighter on the skin. Maybe once the sun comes out I'll give a BB cream a go! xxx

I think tinted moisturisers just give you a bit of colour, I actually don't see the point in them for me because they do nothing but this gives you that bit of coverage and works like a lighter foundation... Let me know how you get on with a BB cream if you try one, this is the first one I've liked so far xxx
DeleteStill haven't tried this, but I've got a sample of the Estee Lauder BB Cream and think it's lovely. xx
ReplyDeleteI just don't use BB creams enough to fork out on a really expensive one but I might see if I can get a sample to see if theres a good difference between it and a cheaper version xx
DeleteI've not tried it before as i hated the garnier bb one, made my skin so greasy,
ReplyDeletethis one looks good on your skin, i may buy it while its in the 3 for 2 offer :)
thanks for the fab review

I didn't like the Garnier one as a BB cream so maybe this one will work for you too xx
DeleteI bought this the other day and in all honesty I'm not impressed. Maybe I'm just far too used to my heavy, full coverage Double Wear.
ReplyDeleteI do however like it as a base for my foundation. I also seem to use slightly less foundation when I do too xxx
I found that with the Garnier one that it was a good base for my foundation xx
DeleteThat looks gorge! I deffo need to do/find something for my undereyes I look like a corpse and not in a glam twighlight way either :p

Hahaha! Sarah you make me laugh! Its a really nice BB cream though, so its worth a try xx
DeleteSeems like a great product! I use a BB cream, but it's from a different brand as we can't get 17 where I live, sadly! :( By the way, your eye colour is really pretty! x
ReplyDeleteThank you :) xx
DeleteI can't edit my last post here, but I thought you should know I featured this post in a weekend round-up I did; http://eightforawish.com/2012/03/18/sunday-roundup/

I already tweeted you but I shall say it again, of course I don't mind and thank you very much! xx
DeleteI found this really useful because like you, I like to have a bit more coverage and I assumed these products wouldn't be for me, but I think now this would be great for days when I get up late and have to do my make up on the train or for sundays when I'm not up to much. thanks xxx

I just bought Clinique Bb cream last week and I don't like it! It gave me the heavy cakey foundation look, where a BB cream is suppose not to. I have tried other BB cream brand, Korean brand and it is so much better and cheaper than this!
ReplyDeletenice opinion.. thanks for sharing.
