Recently I have become a bit of a foundation junkie with me adding five new ones to my collection over the last two months, what surprised me is the foundation I have fallen the most in love with is it can actually be bought so easily on the highstreet at the likes of Boots, Superdrug and even Sainsburys or any other supermarket that seems to sell make up.... Fantastic!.
Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation - £8.99
Wearing Rimmel Wake Me Up in 103 True Ivory
I first want to say I have a bit of a problem with the way Rimmel shade their foundations due to the fact that I am a different colour in all of their foundations, which annoys me because I would like to go and grab a foundation knowing I am a certain shade instead of spending my time swatching and playing the foundation guessing game we all seem to play when choosing one by ourselves. Other than that I actually really like Rimmel foundations and think they have upped their game in the foundation stakes from what they were many years ago.
The bottle of the foundation is one I really like with the Orange lid and pump, glass bottle and raised branding on the side... I wish higher end companies would take note because if Rimmel can bring all this in an £8.99 foundation surely they can offer a pump with a foundation we are spending £25+ on.
The foundation itself is relatively thick but nowhere near the thickest foundation I have put on my face and it blends really easily into the skin with what I would call a coverage of medium - full, I personally think it covers better than Estee Lauder Double Wear but I have never really got on with it so maybe that's why.
Wake Me Up does contain tiny shimmer particles which is all part of the fact it makes you look brighter and more awake, these are barely noticeable but if you are under harsh lighting you can see them so bare that in mind if you are wanting to buy and can't stand that sort of look, I would say the finish of this is a deceiving dewy finish as it drys completely but leaves you with a nice looking glow. I also powder mine down and you can still see the healthy glow through it.
For me this foundation last all day and a typical day for me starts at around 8am and I can still see its perfectly in place by 6pm. My skin is a typical combination of oily forehead and dry everywhere else so I do get a little bit of shine on my forehead but its nothing that a bit of powder wont fix.
Overall I think this is a fantastic foundation and I have snubbed all my other foundations since getting it.
Have you tried this? Want to buy?

DeleteIt looks lovely on you hun. I've seen a lot of people complaining about the poor choice of colours. I've got a little sample sachet, and I'm usually the colour of magazine samples (must be very average!) so I'm going to give it a go and see if I like it as much as you! Gem xxx
ReplyDeleteThats your new name now, perfectly average Gem :P Ha! xxx
DeleteI'm thinking of getting it today, but can't choose between this and Bourjois Healthy Mix!! Great review! xx
ReplyDeleteGet both! They are both fab :) xx
DeleteI had a sample of this foundation in a magazine, although it's probably the wrong shade for me I think I'll have to give it a go to see what it's like! It looks lovely on you :) xx

ReplyDeleteemma xo
I hope you liked it :) xx
DeleteI was wondering if it would fit a combination skin, mine is combo towards dry sometimes, I think I will give it a try, but we have a color number 100 - the lightest shade is a bit too dark :( but, maybe a lighter face powder would color correct it somehow!
ReplyDeleteI have combination skin but I'm never too oily or too dry! I hope it works for you xx
DeleteCan't wait to get my hands on it when it launches in my part of the world. I haven't seen it displayed in rimmel booths around here as yet.
ReplyDeleteLovely review.
